The iLRN 2024 Organizing Committee is accepting submissions for peer review & publication. Proposals for contributions are being accepted in two streams: the Academic Stream and the Immersive Learning Education and Design (iLEAD) Stream. The submission formats (e.g., length, template, presentation format) differ per stream.

    ACADEMIC STREAM (more information)

All Academic Stream submissions will be published and should be submitted as scientific papers. There are two publication formats, depending on the submitted paper type:

    1) Academic Stream Submissions: Refereed Scholarly Papers Published in Springer CCIS Conference Proceedings indexed in Scopus Database

    • Full paper (12 to 15+ pages in Springer LNCS format, incl. references) for oral presentation.
    • Short paper (6 to 11 pages in Springer LNCS format, incl. references) for oral presentation.

See previous iLRN Springer proceedings: https://link.springer.com/conference/icil

    2) Academic Stream Submissions: Refereed Scholarly Papers Published in iLRN Conference Proceedings (not indexed)

    • Work-in-progress paper (4 to 7 pages in iLRN Proceedings format, incl. references) for poster presentation. WIP papers describe early-stage research with their theoretical background, methodology, and, if applicable, first data collections.
    • Doctoral colloquium paper (4 to 7 pages in iLRN Proceedings format, incl. references) for oral presentation in the doctoral colloquium. Both doctoral level as well as master’s by research students/candidates are eligible to submit to the DC. The DC will be held as a session in addition to the regular paper sessions, with students presenting their research to each other (in English).

    iLEAD STREAM (more information)

Proposals in the Immersive Learning Education and Design (iLEAD) stream include the submission of an extended abstract for various presentation formats. Publication in the iLEAD conference proceedings is possible but not required for presentation. Potential iLEAD presentation formats are:

    • Oral presentation
    • Poster presentation
    • Workshop proposal
    • Special session proposal
    • Panel session proposal
    • Guided Virtual Adventures
    • Tutorials
    • Product Demonstrations

For all presentation formats, please submit an Extended Abstract (2 to 3 pages in iLRN Proceedings format, incl. references) with a summary of your contribution to immersive learning education and design. Publication of this Extended Abstract in the iLEAD 2024 Conference Proceedings (not indexed) is optional.

Jump to "Submission & Templates" Section

Papers and proposals may be submitted to one of 10 program tracks. These tracks can be chosen within the submission form and presentations at the conference will be clustered based on these tracks. The first track is intended for papers making knowledge contributions to the learning sciences, computer science, and/or game studies that are not linked to any particular application area. The other nine tracks correspond to the iLRN Houses of application. Submissions to all tracks are received through EasyChair (see "Submission & Templates" below).

Track 1.    Foundations of Immersive Learning Research and Theory (not linked to any particular application area).
Track 2.    Assessment and Evaluation (A&E)
Track 3.    Galleries, Libraries, Archives, & Museums (GLAM)
Track 4.    Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access, & Social Justice (IDEAS)
    Track 5.    STEM Education

    Special Tracks

In addition to the general iLRN Program Tracks, three special track proposals have been submitted to and accepted for iLRN 2024. Submissions to these special tracks is possible in all paper and proposal categories in both submission rounds, which means that Academic Full Paper submissions to the special tracks are possible also for the second submission deadline. Submissions to the special tracks are also received through EasyChair (see "Submission & Templates" below). Here, the track "Special Track Submissions" can be selected for the submission.

Special Track 1.    Immersive Learning across Latin America: state of research, use cases and projects.
Special Track 2.    Sustainable Development and Immerse Learning in the Climate Emergency
