iLRN 2024 - 10th International Conference of the Immersive Learning Research Network
Conference theme: “Tech4Good”
June 3 – 5, 2024 Online & in Virtual Reality June 10 – 13, 2024 Glasgow, Scotland; University of Glasgow The 10th Annual International Conference of the Immersive Learning Research Network (iLRN2024) will be innovative and interactive gatherings online and face-to-face for a flourishing global network of researchers and practitioners collaborating to develop the scientific, technical, and applied potential of immersive learning. It is the premier scholarly event focusing on the following topics:

Scholars and professionals working from informal and formal education settings as well as those representing diverse industry sectors are invited to participate in the conference in either venue, where they may share their research findings, experiences, and insights; network and establish partnerships to envision and shape the future of XR and immersive technologies for learning; and contribute to the emerging scholarly knowledge base on how these technologies can be used to create experiences that educate, engage, and excite learners.

SUBMISSION TYPES
The iLRN 2024 Organizing Committee is accepting submissions for peer review & publication. Proposals for contributions are being accepted in two streams: the Academic Stream and the Immersive Learning Education and Design (iLEAD) Stream. The submission formats (e.g., length, template, presentation format) differ per stream.
ACADEMIC STREAM (more information)
All Academic Stream submissions will be published and should be submitted as scientific papers. There are two publication formats, depending on the submitted paper type:
1) Academic Stream Submissions: Refereed Scholarly Papers Published in Springer CCIS Conference Proceedings indexed in Scopus Database
- Full paper (12 to 15+ pages in Springer LNCS format, incl. references) for oral presentation.
- Short paper (6 to 11 pages in Springer LNCS format, incl. references) for oral presentation.

2) Academic Stream Submissions: Refereed Scholarly Papers Published in iLRN Conference Proceedings (not indexed)
- Work-in-progress paper (4 to 7 pages in iLRN Proceedings format, incl. references) for poster presentation. WIP papers describe early-stage research with their theoretical background, methodology, and, if applicable, first data collections.

Doctoral colloquium paper (4 to 7 pages in iLRN Proceedings format, incl. references) for oral presentation in the doctoral colloquium. Both doctoral level as well as master’s by research students/candidates are eligible to submit to the DC. The DC will be held as a session in addition to the regular paper sessions, with students presenting their research to each other (in English).
iLEAD STREAM (more information)
Proposals in the Immersive Learning Education and Design (iLEAD) stream include the submission of an extended abstract for various presentation formats. Publication in the iLEAD conference proceedings is possible but not required for presentation. Potential iLEAD presentation formats are:
- Oral presentation
- Poster presentation
- Workshop proposal
- Special session proposal
- Panel session proposal
- Guided Virtual Adventures
- Tutorials
- Product Demonstrations
For all presentation formats, please submit an Extended Abstract (2 to 3 pages in iLRN Proceedings format, incl. references) with a summary of your contribution to immersive learning education and design. Publication of this Extended Abstract in the iLEAD 2024 Conference Proceedings (not indexed) is optional.

PROGRAM TRACKS
Papers and proposals may be submitted to one of 10 program tracks. These tracks can be chosen within the submission form and presentations at the conference will be clustered based on these tracks. The first track is intended for papers making knowledge contributions to the learning sciences, computer science, and/or game studies that are not linked to any particular application area. The other nine tracks correspond to the iLRN Houses of application. Submissions to all tracks are received through EasyChair (see "Submission & Templates" below).

In addition to the general iLRN Program Tracks, three special track proposals have been submitted to and accepted for iLRN 2024. Submissions to these special tracks is possible in all paper and proposal categories in both submission rounds, which means that Academic Full Paper submissions to the special tracks are possible also for the second submission deadline. Submissions to the special tracks are also received through EasyChair (see "Submission & Templates" below). Here, the track "Special Track Submissions" can be selected for the submission.
Special Track 1. Immersive Learning across Latin America: state of research, use cases and projects.
Special Track 2. Sustainable Development and Immerse Learning in the Climate Emergency
Special Track 3. Literacy Equity and Immersive Learning -

All contributions will be accepted only via the online submission system Easy Chair. A double blind peer-review process will be used to evaluate all submissions. For this, all submissions must be anonymized. Please also take the iLRN plagiarism policy into account. Choose your submission type in EasyChair:

ACADEMIC STREAM
1) Full Papers and Short Papers. SUBMISSION CLOSED.
These types of academic papers must be prepared in the Springer LNCS format (template and author instructions) for publication in the iLRN Springer proceedings (Scopus indexed). Please indicate the iLRN track or special track for which the submission is intended. Full Papers (12 - 15+ pages) can only be submitted during the first submission round, Short Papers (6 - 11 pages) can be submitted during both submission rounds (see Important Dates below for the two deadlines).
2) Work-in-Progress papers, Doctoral Colloquium Papers. SUBMISSION CLOSED.
These types of academic papers and proposals must be prepared in the iLRN Proceedings paper format (template) on 4 - 7 pages for publication in the iLRN academic proceedings (iLRN published with DOIs, not indexed). Please indicate the iLRN track or special track for which the submission is intended. These paper types can be submitted during the second submission round.
iLEAD STREAM
1) Proposals for the iLEAD Stream (all types). OPEN TO PROPOSALS.
All types of iLEAD proposals must be prepared in the iLRN Proceedings format (template) on 2 to 3 pages (incl. references). Please indicate the intended type of presentation in the submission form. Publication in the iLEAD proceedings (iLRN published with DOIs, not indexed) is optional, but not required for presentation. In the submission process, make sure to indicate if you want your proposal to be published or not. These proposals can be submitted during the second submission round.
SPECIAL SUBMISSIONS
There are two special types submissions that are not published in the iLRN Proceedings, but can be submitted through EasyChair in addition to the usual submission types:
1) Proposals for the 5th iLRNFuser (GameJam). SUBMISSION CLOSED.
International student competition for the development of immersive game apps supporting UN Sustainability Goals (more information on iLRNFuser GameJam).
2) Proposals for the Alternate Reality Game (ARG): Project Vanguard. SUBMISSION CLOSED.
Submitting a "node" for co-designing an immersive learning Alternate Reality Gaming experience with the iLRN community (more information on submitting nodes as part of iLRN's Project Vanguard).
