The iLRN 2024 Organizing Committee is accepting submissions for peer review & publication. Proposals for contributions are being accepted in two streams: the Academic Stream and the Immersive Learning Education and Design (iLEAD) Stream. The submission formats (e.g., length, template, presentation format) differ per stream.
All Academic Stream submissions will be published and should be submitted as scientific papers. There are two publication formats, depending on the submitted paper type:
1) Academic Stream Submissions: Refereed Scholarly Papers Published in Conference Proceedings indexed in Scopus Database
- Full paper (12 to 15 pages in Springer LNCS format, incl. references) for oral presentation.
- Short paper (8 to 11 pages in Springer LNCS format, incl. references) for oral presentation.
2) Academic Stream Submissions: Refereed Scholarly Papers Published in iLRN Conference Proceedings (not indexed)
- Work-in-progress paper (4 to 7 pages in iLRN Proceedings format, incl. references) for poster presentation. WIP papers describe early-stage research with their theoretical background, methodology, and, if applicable, first data collections.
Doctoral colloquium paper (4 to 7 pages in iLRN Proceedings format, incl. references) for oral presentation in the doctoral colloquium. Both doctoral level as well as master’s by research students/candidates are eligible to submit to the DC. The DC will be held as a session in addition to the regular paper sessions, with students presenting their research to each other (in English).
Proposals in the Immersive Learning Education and Design (iLEAD) stream include the submission of an extended abstract for various presentation formats. Publication in the iLEAD conference proceedings is possible but not required for presentation. Potential iLEAD presentation formats are:
- Oral presentation
- Poster presentation
- Workshop proposal
- Special session proposal
- Panel session proposal
- Guided Virtual Adventures
- Product Demonstrations
For all presentation formats, please submit an Extended Abstract (2 to 3 pages in iLRN Proceedings format, incl. references) with a summary of your contribution to immersive learning education and design. Publication of this Extended Abstract in the iLEAD 2024 Conference Proceedings (not indexed) is optional.
Papers and proposals may be submitted to one of 10 program tracks. These tracks can be chosen within the submission form and presentations at the conference will be clustered based on these tracks. The first track is intended for papers making knowledge contributions to the learning sciences, computer science, and/or game studies that are not linked to any particular application area. The other nine tracks correspond to the iLRN Houses of application. Furthermore, papers can be submitted to two special tracks, which were submitted to and accepted for iLRN 2024.
Track 1. Foundations of Immersive Learning Research and Theory (not linked to any particular application area).
Track 2. Assessment and Evaluation (A&E)
Track 3. Galleries, Libraries, Archives, & Museums (GLAM)

CALL FOR REVIEWERS
The conference is currently seeking reviewers for the all types of paper and proposal submissions. Applications are sought from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join the Program Committee as paper and/or proposal reviewers for iLRN 2024.
The minimum requirement to join the Program Committee to review "Academic Stream" papers is a Master's degree plus research experience; for reviewers of "iLEAD Stream" proposals a minimum of 3 years' practical (e.g., teaching, training, design, development) experience is required.
An award will be presented to one or more member(s) of the Program Committee for the conference who the iLRN 2024 Program Chairs, in consultation with the Conference General Chairs, Awards & Recognition Chair, and the wider Conference Organizing Committee, deem to have made the most outstanding contribution in executing their reviewing duties. (Note: The Program Chairs’ decision is final.)
Interested individuals should in the first instance fill out the application form below. The form should take approximately 5 minutes to complete. Your taking the time to provide as detailed information as possible is greatly appreciated as this will assist us in determining your eligibility to serve on the Program Committee, and if you are selected to join the Committee, in matching you with submissions that you will be both interested in and qualified to review. The closing date for applications for the first submission round is November 20, 2023. The form will stay open for reviewer sign ups for the second round submissions until January 31, 2024.
Successful applicants will receive an invitation to the Program Committee from EasyChair with further instructions.
